We interviewed one of our youngest serial inventors, Chua Howe Run. At just 5 years of age, Howe Run showcased his first invention, Night Patch, at the 2019 Invention Convention Singapore Nationals and was invited to compete at the U.S. Nationals. He won 2nd place in the kindergarten category.
In 2020, Howe Run participated at the Singapore Nationals with his second invention, Howebot, and emerged a winner for his grade category!
Why did you invent the Howebot?
Howe Run (H): I invented the Howebot because most people would not want to keep their toys that they play. Others might accidentally step on the toys, so I decided to make a toy-keeping robot for them.
What was your favourite part of inventing?
H: My favourite part of inventing is building! It’s very fun building the Howebot. That’s why I decided to choose the building part for the best part of inventing.
Is your invention, Howebot, complete?
H: Howebot can’t turn, Howebot can’t move by itself like humans. To solve all the problems that I mentioned, I would like to add a turning wheel so that Howebot can turn, and to add some motors and electric charges so that Howebot can move by itself.
Did you enjoy the programme?
H: I enjoyed the invention programme. It was really fun!
IDE Academy thanks Howe Run for taking the time to interview with us!
